ITFC Nucleus Farm

The nucleus farm, cultivates 155 hectares of certified organic mango and 20 hectares of Jathropha.  The farm is partitioned into sixteen equal blocks which are planted with for varieties, namely Zille, Amelie, Kent and Keitt.

ITFC uses a micro-irrigation system, meaning there is one sprinkler per plant.  This system allows every plant to receive the required amount of water.  The water is pumped directly from the White Volta River, and passes through a filtration system before reaching the sprinklers.

ITFC has employed qualified personnel with requisite experience to manage the plantation as well as sourced workers from the surrounding communities.  It is expected that the organic agricultural methods used by the nucleus plantation will be transferred to the surrounding communities through the outgrowers scheme, which is also certified organic.

ITFC has worked since it's inception with The Soil Association to be licensed organic, license no. FG7405.  Soil Association is the UK's leading certification and campaigning organization for organic food and farming. In order to meet the organic regulations, the farm uses a system of integrated pest management and an organic disease control scheme. An internal control system has also been put in place to monitor all activities on the farm and insure the best quality mangoes.

ITFC is also GLOBALGAP (Global Good Agricultural Practices) certified, registration No. SGS-AU/05/2748.  The GLOBALGAP mission is to develop widely accepted standards and procedures for the global certification of Good Agricultural Practices (GAP).
